24/01/07 VE Commodore won over judges to take out Wheels COTY

Some people laughed at the fact that Holden spent $1 Billion on the design and development, considering a waste of money and it’s no different to all the other ones.
Who’s laughing now? I can tell you Holden is certainly smiling at the constant stream of awards and accolades it has been receiving for the VE from not only in Australia, but over the world.

To add to that stream, Wheels have just named the VE Commodore as their top pick out of 21 cars to win their prestigious Car of the Year Award. Judged on performance, fuel economy and value for money, the VE was given the nod after six days of solid vehicular torture.

Denny Mooney, Holden’s Chairman and Managing Director said the win was a perfect start to 2007.

“This is certainly a fantastic honor,” Mr. Mooney said.

“The award gives much deserved recognition to everyone at Holden who worked so hard on making the VE Commodore range a success.

“We are in no doubt that this was an incredibly tough award to win. The competition was tough and the judging criteria is of an extremely high standard.

“We designed, engineered and manufactured this range to meet world class standards and to be able to compete against some of the most expensive and most carefully crafted cars around the world. Winning this highly respected award is in recognition of that we achieved these objectives.”
