The 2006 Toyo Drift Australia was very popular with CAMS jumping onboard to make the event an official event on the Australian Motorsport calendar. Drift Australia Director Wayne Boatwright is excited about Barbagallo Raceway holding the first 2007 drift event, stating that West Australia has a strong drift following. “While Bolger didn’t win the Championship in 2006, he did prove many of his critics – who said Holden’s V8 would struggle against the high-performance Japanese imports which have dominated the sport – wrong. Bolger has been flat out in the off-season, building what he is hoping will be the first VE to see West Australian tracks; it’s just a question of whether or not the car will be completed. “It will be touch and go to have the new car ready, but we’ll be working flat-out to give ourselves every chance. “If it isn’t finished, we’ll run the Monaro which will also be well suited to the track, with the big horsepower of the V8 engine against the Japanese car boys.” For more information and pictures, visit their website located here.
