29/01/07 Targa Tasmania needs only National Rally License!

With many prospective Targa competitors put off competing in the Targa Tasmania Rally because of the hefty International Rally License requirements, CAMS and Octagon have today announced that competitors will only need to hold a National Rally Licence to get a start in the 2007 series of Targa.

Under the new arrangement, competitors are likely to save over $1,500 per entry over the old 2006 fee structure which ensures continual interest in reinvigorating Australia’s first and largest Tarmac Rally.

Mr. Sean Nicholls, Octagon Managing Director, says the decision represents a key moment in Targa Tasmania’s 15 year history.

"Through the hard work of senior staff from both Octagon and CAMS we have arrived at an agreement that will see Targa Tasmania remain Australia's premier tarmac rally for years to come, ensuring the largest competition field will continue to compete over the longest distance."

Targa Tasmania will commence from April 17 – 22 this year, with competitors covering 450 kilometers and over 43 stages of driving challenges.
