30/01/07 Want a Z06 Corvette? Better have $240,000 handy

With Holden and HSV still contemplating Corvette’s future in Australia, Performax International have now begun offering fully ADR-compliant, right hand drive Z06 Corvettes to the Australian market. You even get a 3 year/75,000km warranty, but all this comes at a price.
It’s at this time you really hope you have a fantastic relationship with your bank manager, because weighing in at $240,000; it would really come in handy.

While the price seems quite high, there are many things to consider before you start offing a string of four letter beauties. The Corvette Z06 is deep within Supercar territory. It goes, stops and handles like a Supercar; it even looks like a Supercar.  Expect the quarter mile to blur past in 11.7 seconds while on your way to a bowel emptying 319km/h top speed.
Not too bad at all, and up there with some of the worlds most exotic and prestige.
While it may not be the V12, it’s obvious that the 382kW 7-litre V8 is more than up the job boasting dry-sump lubrication, titanium conrods, titanium intake valves and forged steel crank and pistons.

Wheels Magazine recently put one of these beasts through its paces and ended up receiving the thumbs up with exceptional ratings in Engine/Driveline/Chassis field and scoring an overall 4.0 out of a possible 5.0.

The sad this is I can’t see myself witnessing too many of these road going racecars around the streets of Sydney, Performax aims to supply just 12 Z06 ‘Vettes annually.
