11/01/07 Price and Perkins Jnr. Step up to prime time in 2007

Jack Daniels Racing have chose to elevate V8 Supercar rookies Shane Price and Jack Perkins into full-time driving positions in the main V8 Supercar Championship series in the 2007 series.

The 2006 season saw the duo make their debut with great success, finishing second and third respectively in the feeder series. The 2007 season will see pair each line up on the grid in freshly built VE Commodores which are still currently being assembled at the Perkins Engineering workshop.

Team boss and father to Jack, Larry Perkins chose using the fresh younger duo over more experienced V8 Supercar drivers, believing that using the pair is more of a long term strategy.

“Both Shane and Jack have showed considerable improvement and development in their first season and I felt they should be rewarded as such,” Perkins explained.

“They both know that the step into the main series is massive and they will need to be as prepared they can be.

“Naturally, I’m proud to see the ‘Perkins’ name on the side of the #11 Commodore. But Jack isn’t going to get a free or an easy ride. He is treated the same as Shane and the rest of the team and he’s expected to perform.”
