15/01/07 Facility upgrade proposed for Adelaide’s Clipsal 500

It has been more than 20 years since the South Australian city of Adelaide first conducted a race on it’s temporary street circuit and now there is new proposal released that would see a permanent structure erected for use in the Victoria Park section of the track.

This structure would be used for both horse racing and motor sport, with the multi-purpose building easily ably to be utilized for pit garages, corporate facilities and race control.

Subject to approval, construction is said to commence in the second half of 2007 and finish by the end of 2008. The new facilities are planned to be fully operational for the 2009 Clipsal 500 event.

Motor sport fans and all members of the motor sport fraternity are encouraged to express their views on the plan by commenting on a form that will be available at the 2007 Clipsal 500, or by visiting the master plan website www.dtei.sa.gov.au/vicpark or by calling 1300 728 116.
