Street Commodores started in 2011 the way most Commodore builds do: with a problem nobody else wanted to solve. Jarrad “J-Dog” O'Brien was mid-way through a VE SS-V Redline build in a rented Brunswick garage, hunting down HSV bits, Walkinshaw-spec suspension and a brake package that wasn't back-ordered forever. He couldn't find one roof to buy them under, so he built one.
Fourteen years on, that Brunswick garage is a 14-person operation headquartered at Unit 12, 38 Miguel Road, Laverton North VIC 3026. The same phone number still rings out the front of the warehouse. The same forum posts that J-Dog used to answer at 1am are still pinned somewhere on the board, only now they're answered by 9 volunteer moderators across Australia and NZ.
Three of the staff are qualified auto-electricians. Four came out of the forum itself. None of them came out of a marketing meeting.

“I started this place because every Commodore forum I joined in 2009 was either dead, dying, or full of brand managers pretending to be enthusiasts. We don't run focus groups, we don't write slogans, and we don't sell parts we haven't fitted. If a member on the forum says a product is a dud, we delist it the same week — not after a quarterly review. This is a workshop. It runs the way workshops run.”
